For Auld Lang Syne

For our last episode of the year, we answer your listener questions, look back at our favorite episodes, and even reflect on how our 2022 has personally been for us. Tune in for a "behind the scenes" glimpse of our podcast, some of the fun stories that came out of our recordings, and maybe even a personal tear or two!

  • The Gospel Coalition has done a great write-up on the Enneagram, it’s origins are worse than you can imagine. Check out the link here.

  • Both the Enneagram and the MBTI have not been proven to be scientifically accurate in discerning personality categories (at least according to psychologists), here’s a rundown from an article by Psychology Today.

  • On the question of people treating your singleness like a problem…I would add that we follow a Messiah who spent all 33 years of his life single and was the most “complete” and blameless person to ever walk this earth.

  • Sam Allberry: 7 Myths about Singleness

  • John Piper: This Momentary Marriage: A Parable about Permanence

  • Mia Fielde’s podcast about how she met her husband (AKA a truly Christian romance) HERE. And I will follow that up with the incredibly inspirational podcast on her life and how she came to the Lord in her podcast with Rita Springer. Here faith is truly infectious, find that HERE.

  • I am also adding the article behind the title of the podcast which is a song traditionally sung around New Years and has to do with remembering the good times and old friends. I absolutely love the lyrics to this poem by Robert Burns, and am attaching a lovely Youtube video of it sung below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al7ONqrdscY&ab_channel=PabloSastre

    • “Auld Lang Syne” English version by Robert Burns

      Should old acquaintance be forgot,
      And never brought to mind?
      Should old acquaintance be forgot,
      And old lang syne?

      (Chorus)
      For auld lang syne, my dear,
      For auld lang syne,
      We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
      For auld lang syne.

      And surely you’ll buy your pint cup!
      And surely I’ll buy mine!
      And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
      For auld lang syne.

      We two have run about the slopes,
      And picked the daisies fine;
      But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
      Since auld lang syne.

      We two have paddled in the stream,
      From morning sun till dine;
      But seas between us broad have roared
      Since auld lang syne.

      And there’s a hand my trusty friend!
      And give me a hand o’ thine!
      And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
      For auld lang syne.
